Orphan Run 2012
Friday, June 1st
1-Mile Fun Run @ 6:30 p.m.
5K @ 7 p.m. (Only those pre-registered for the 5K are guaranteed a t-shirt)

The Orphan Run is a family-friendly event and will feature food, entertainment, and fun for all! Runners are encouraged to put together teams - 4 runners/walkers minimum p/team including the team captain.  The following prizes will be awarded to the THREE Team Captains with the most runners...

1st prize: $100 gift certificate to Tulsa Runner and an hour massage provided by Donna House, LCMT
2nd prize: $75 gift certificate to Tulsa Runner and a pedicure provided by Tara with Uptown Salon
3rd prize: $50 gift certificate to Tulsa Runner and a pedicure provided by Tara with Uptown Salon

Each team is assigned an orphan that they will represent who is currently living at Calo Me Lare - an orphanage built by Project Hope Worldwide and opened last year in February 2011. We currently have 92 team captains and are looking for 8 more to help us reach our goal of 100! If you are interested in being a Team Captain, please e-mail Jeanette Hudgeons at jhudgeons07@hotmail.com.

We are also looking for sponsors to help us cover our expenses so more funds can be channelled directly to the orphans. If your company or organization is interested, please contact Craig Bartel at 580.794.9933 or craigbartel@msn.com.

Sign-ups are now available on-line. Click here to register today! (On-line Registration will end at noon on Thursday, May 31st.) Because this is an officially sanctioned race, we apologize but no strollers will be allowed in either race.

We are excited to announce that entertainment will be provided by Kirkland Field - an amazing, local band that plays pop, rock, and dance hits from the 70's to today. Post-race entertainment will also include shaved ice by IceCrystals, a rock climbing wall provided by the U.S. Army, inflatables, Chick-fil-A sandwiches, and AwEsOmE BBQ by Trails End. It's sure to be a fun night for all ages so we hope everyone can stick around after the race!

* Project Hope Worldwide, an Owasso, OK-based non-profit organization, has built an orphanage and school in Lira, Uganda. Proceeds from this Run will go directly towards meeting the needs of these orphans providing them food, clothing, education, and a loving home.
